Chemical Attraction Blog 4, Due Tuesday June 25th before class
Dr. Helen Fisher's research on attraction asserts that we are drawn to certain types of people depending on our chemical make-up.
1) Watch the following video on Dr. Fisher's research
Video: Chemistry of Attraction
2) Take Dr. Fisher's test to find out which chemicals are your primary and secondary drivers and then blog about what personality traits you find attractive. Share with us how accurate you think Dr. Fisher's test is and why or why not.

1st: Negotiator, 2nd: Builder
ReplyDeleteSpark Factor: DIRECTOR/builders
Considering that this test gave me results based on just a few questions picking at my brain, I would say it did a descent job picking out my personality drivers and also the traits I have found attractive in the past. The personality trait that I care most about it the genuineness, and compassion of another individual as well as the high integrity and work ethic. Traits I identify in myself.
1st was Negotiator and the 2nd was Builder. I think the test might be kinda accurate. Any personality I takes usually says I'm something similar to the negotiator.
ReplyDeleteMy primary is Builder and my secondary is negotiator.
ReplyDeleteTraits that I find attractive are kind, compassionate, easy going, protective people who enjoy good conversation, but not too talkative. I believe Dr. Fisher's summation was very accurate.
I would not have considered myself a builder/negotiator, but her explanation are comments I have heard before from others and see in myself. I felt that she described "me" very well right down to the bewares.
1st:Builder
ReplyDelete2nd:Negotiator
I've taken these types of tests in the past, and while I primarily agree I like the personality portrait tests.
I myself am an ENTJ, helps me better identify with the type of people I mesh well with.
My primary personality type was Explorer, and my secondary personality type was Director.
ReplyDeleteI think that it was kind of accurate. I guess not everyone fits exactly into each one, but most of the traits of each fit me pretty well. It says that I would gravitate or be attracted to Explorer/ Negotiators which I've found true. I'm going to have my boyfriend take the test to see how well he fits in that category. But I think most of the things in the Explorer/Negotiator category fit him pretty well, and well obviously I'm attracted to him.
My primary was Director and secondary was Builder. I feel like Builder would actually be more of a primary thing, but the Director can definitely apply to my personality. I can solve a lot of rule based problems however Math really isn't one of my strong suits haha. Everything else though was spot on.
ReplyDeletenegotiator/explorer... and i am attracted to builder/explorers. I found this to be pretty accurate. Apparently, I have taken this before although i don't remember, but i had to use a different email. the test was quite accurate. said i am empathetic and compassionate. i can also be indecisive because there is so much i want to do. my partner balances me in these cases, and forces me to stop and be in the moment. i enjoyed this test. it is good to be reminded of who you are once in a while. love!
ReplyDelete1) Builder 2) Explorer This was close to being accurate. It made me reflect on traits I didn't realize were strong and vice versa. These questionnaires are always interesting. When I shared with my little sister of this, she says right away "You're a Director." I am told I am a bit bossy but I have also been told I am "motherly/nuturing." I don't see myself as bossy but more like always giving advice. I do have to catch myself because obviously it can come across as bossy.
ReplyDeleteI often find it kind of hard to describe what it is I look for in a person of interest, quite so because I find myself sounding rather picky. Picky or not, however, I found that this test nailed every aspect I can presently imagine in a potential partner!
ReplyDeleteI was labeled as a Negotiator/Explorer, and I agree that I'm attracted towards people who are a little more solid in their personal convictions and can act as a morale booster to keep m e going.
My primary personality type is Negotiator with the chemical estrogen and my second is builder with serotonin. One part in the relating to others section that stood out to me was "You also look in as well as out; you are introspective. And you like probing the meanings of life. So you avoid casual chit-chat. You can be so agreeable that some people may overlook your complex personality." I felt that this descibed me the best. I felt the test was pretty accurate because it put into words how i tend to feel.
ReplyDeleteMy primary personality type is Negotiator and my secondary was Director. So much of the description matched me as a person I was very surprised. It also shows my spark factor being towards Director/negotiators which was also very acurate in both friendships and romantic relationships. I also feel pretty matched on the director side I think so maybe this thing just didn't have an option to tie. :P
ReplyDeleteI am a director first and a builder second. I don't agree with that I would say I am a builder first because I have more traits of that. I don't think this test was so right on my first choice
ReplyDeleteI am a negotiator first and an explorer second. I actually found this test to be extremely accurate. I value real love but not relational dependence, I want to be more adventurous than I honestly am, I look for people who are daring. The results stated that "Marriage is important to you; but the social pledge of matrimony is far less sacred than the personal commitment" I found this to be spot on, I believe in a life long commitment however not with the instituition of marriage... or any institution of anything for that matter, I guess that's why I'm an "empathetic peace maker", I like to understand all sides before making decisions.
